There are many forms of business - small business - big business - family business - entertainment business - corporate business - and so on, but what happens if "business" becomes more important than people or our environment? I think we experience the effect of this right now, we are in the midst of business justifying pretty much everything. If someone is emotionally detached from a situation we call it " it's just business" - but what does that really mean? Justifying an action for the greater good?
I notice it in my daily Life everywhere: In my favorite coffee shop, the debate whether or not tables or bar-stools are being put up for people to sit on while they are enjoying their delicious coffee is going on now for over a year. It is not about customer's well being, or the interaction it will create between people, it's simply not in the budget to expand like this because it's much easier for people to pick up their coffee or latte and leave. But what kind of culture do we create if we think in that way? Exactly the culture that exists at the moment. Is that what we want? Running from one place to another and never sitting in a relaxed environment to enjoy each other, unless the Holidays come around? But that's a minor example compare to health care, education, politics and other areas in our Life. If health care is a "business" than people are not really the focus, the focus is on selling pharmaceutical products, keeping the patient long term and creating more disease so business can expand. What kind of mindset is this? If big pharma controls our health care, than we can't really trust our system much. The other area is education, how can education be a "business" - but it is! If you can't afford to go to college, or you can't pay for the private school, your children are pretty much not in the big game of Life, at least not here in America, the land of the free and the brave and the big dreamers. Education is also influenced by private investors such as the Rockefeller foundation and the Rothschild's. Universities rely on private investors and therefore follow their rules and regulations.
I always thought education should be solely about educating students and embracing one's talent. And in politics we see what is happening when big corporations influence presidential candidates and congress, when this happens our well being is compromised. But the big questions is: Why do we allow it? Why do we value business over everything? Why is profit and greed things we value? What does it mean to us when someone live's in exuberant wealth , do we look up to people like that or do we wish secretly we could live just like them? I guess it goes back to what I wrote earlier: Self worth. If you know for a fact, that you, exactly who you are, with no material wealth, with no education under belt, you as a simple human being are valuable, and just because you exist you are perfect just the way you are, and now you go out in the world and make a difference, inspire others with what you know and show your talent. We all can do that and many have proven it whether they were physically challenged or displayed perfect health. Many people in our time and in the past have done enormous things, why do we think we are less? Let's make a change today!
"Every day I go out into this beautiful Life that we live and I share it with everyone I meet."
